5 things I'm looking forward to about starting this September
I applied to St. George's through clearing and got accepted without actually visiting in person. Apart from seeing photos online and having a virtual offer holder day, I haven't seen the University at all. It will be great to begin the course as I have had to wait another year after deferring entry. One of the reasons I chose St. George's was because of the early clinical placements, so I am looking forward to that!
St. George's is in Tooting which is a very diverse and multi-cultural area of South London. It should be great seeing the area around the university, particularly Tooting market. With Tooting Broadway station nearby, Central London is only ever a short trip away too!
Having already been to uni, I'm going in a bit more confident this time around and with medicine being such a big course, I'm expecting to meet many new interesting people and hopefully making many friends!
With London being the capital, the cost of living is very high. Whilst being a student can mean having to save, I've been told many times the best time to live in London is as a student. I'm sure having student discounts again will prove very useful!
Manchester was a very big uni with the one of the largest students union in the country. St. George's on the other hand is a much smaller specialist uni. Whilst their students union may not be as large, in many ways this can mean more involvement!
Stay tuned for more updates towards September as I begin my time at St. George's!
